Mission
The Nashville Global Academy (NGA) is a public charter school that prepares students to be creative, self-directed, analytical thinkers, committed to leadership and service learning in a global society. NGA intends to obtain certifications from the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) for its Primary Years Programme and Middle Years Programme. In addition, NGA plans to acquire Core Knowledge certification.
The Nashville Global Academy is a value-oriented community where students are guided by dedicated and talented faculty and staff. The members of the Nashville Global Academy community apply research-based knowledge and educational strategies to prepare students for college entry and graduation, civic engagement, and the practice of humane standards in a global society.
The Nashville Global Academy offers E.D. Hirsch’s (1987, 1996) Core Knowledge Curriculum, which is a common core of information needed by all citizens in order to survive and prosper in a given culture. The Core Knowledge framework is designed to encourage students to apply knowledge and critical thinking to all areas of life, to acquire Core Knowledge of mathematics, language arts/reading, the natural sciences, and social studies; to develop skills in the fine and performing arts; and to provide leadership in a democratic society and in a changing world. The Core Knowledge curricular framework along with the Open Court Reading and Alternative Reader programs complement the IBO curricula.
Mission Statement
The Nashville Global Academy educates students through a rigorous curriculum that promotes academic excellence, analytical thinking, cultural awareness, leadership development, lifelong learning, civic engagement, and responsible global citizenship.
