Daily Schedule

Students will arrive at school between 7:00 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. daily.  Breakfast will be served from 7:15 to 7:50 a.m.  The daily schedule at the Nashville Global Academy is built upon a combination of 45 minute and 90-minute time blocks, which permit two 45-minute class periods within each block of time.  The basic daily schedule is provided in the following chart.

Blocks 1-2, 3-4, 7-8, and 9-10 are each comprised of 90 minutes of instructional time.  Dependent upon a student’s schedule and academic progress , he/she may focus on a single subject for the entire 90 minutes (with one or two short breaks as deemed appropriate by the teacher) or be scheduled for two 45 minute classes within the block.  The 90-minute block allows for optimal flexibility.  For example, a second-grade teacher may determine that she/he has four different groups of students who are reading at different levels.  Group A may need the most instruction in this subject and need to focus on reading activities for the whole 90 minutes.  Group B may require only 75 minutes of instruction in this subject while Group C needs 60 minutes of instruction.  Group D, the most advanced group, all of whom are reading at or above second grade level would spend 45 minutes on reading and then move to another subject for the remaining 45 minutes.  This type of scheduling allows for optimal instruction that best meets students’ needs.
